Course Description
This face-to-face CPD builds on the Introduction to Wheelchair Tennis (Online) course, taking your understanding from theory to applied practice. Through interactive on-court learning and guided discussion, you will explore advanced technical and tactical principles, player movement potential and physical readiness, how to develop and integrate players into your pathway, and how to individualise chair setup to optimise player performance. This course is designed to equip coaches with the tools and confidence to deliver purposeful, progressive sessions that support players at different stages of the wheelchair tennis pathway. By blending practical application with reflective learning, participants will gain the skills to create inclusive, challenging, and developmentally appropriate wheelchair tennis environments.

By the end of this course, you will:
  • Be able to identify and coach the key technical foundations of wheelchair tennis, with an emphasis on shot production, positioning, and recovery.
  • Understand tactical priorities across different playing levels and impairment profiles, including movement-based tactics and decision-making.
  • Assess individual player movement potential and physical capabilities to tailor drills and session content effectively.
  • Understand how to support player progression along the wheelchair tennis pathway.
  • Identify and utilise local, regional, and national opportunities to sustain player engagement and competitive development.
  • Analyse and adjust chair setup to maximise mobility, balance, and comfort relative to each player’s impairment and functional ability.
